LOUISA DEROSE
Louisa is as adept at fighting for her clients’ rights in the courtroom as she is at counseling her mediation and collaborative clients.
As an assistant district attorney at the Queens County District Attorney’s Office, Louisa handled misdemeanor and felony cases through trial. She transitioned to family law in 2011 and first practiced at a boutique Manhattan matrimonial firm before joining her family’s law firm, DeRose & Surico, where she also learned to handle real estate matters.
Louisa joined Rower LLC as partner in 2019, bringing her extensive courtroom experience and knowledge of complex transactional real estate law with her.
Louisa is an experienced litigator and a seasoned mediator, having completed her mediation training at the Ackerman Institute for the Family in 2016 and her training in collaborative law in 2022. With excellent training as both a mediator and a litigator, Louisa helps clients resolve family matters, such as divorce, child custody, and separation, in the way that is best for them whether through litigation, mediation or the collaborative law process.
Louisa recognizes that settling cases outside of the courtroom can be in a family’s best interest. In her practice, she strives to provide clients with a full picture of the issues and options so they may make intelligent and informed decisions about what is best for them and their future.
Louisa is an adjunct professor at Brooklyn Law School, where she teaches a course in mediation. Outside of her professional activities and spending time with her husband and two children, Louisa volunteers weekly at her local animal shelter, helps to run a sailing program for the local junior yacht squadron, and enjoys taking long walks with her dogs.
“Louisa is incredibly smart, a fantastic communicator, and a thoughtful, compassionate advocate who guided me through a difficult divorce experience with candor and care. She effortlessly modulated her approach to balance my energy and provide the guidance I needed in the right way at the right time.”
“She helped me understand what was realistic and clearly pointed out when my emotions were leading me to decisions and actions that might not be in my best interest during the negotiations...Having lived with the terms of the settlement for over a year now, I am constantly struck by what a great job they did making sure my kids and I received what we needed. I highly recommend Louisa!”
“I could not speak higher of her legal prowess and ability to relate.”
“Louisa is a powerhouse and so incredibly good at her job. We had a difficult case spanning many years and a few states and each and every step of the way Louisa was on top of our case and extremely helpful to any out of state attorneys we had to hire. If we could give her 10 stars, we would. Our case involved child support, an absent mother, guardianship issues and more. If she didn’t have the answers, she found them. Amazing experience. Amazing attorney. Don’t hesitate to hire her.”
