ALYSSA ROWER
Founding Partner
As founding partner of Rower LLC, Alyssa devotes her practice to prenuptial agreements and complex financial divorces that involve trusts and complicated business interests for high net worth and ultra-high net worth individuals.
Alyssa has been practicing law in New York City since 2005 and matrimonial and family law exclusively since 2008. Alyssa is tireless in her determination to achieve her clients’ goals. She prioritizes unsurpassed client service and compassionately guides her clients through intricate, and often sensitive, family law matters. She crafts bespoke prenuptial and postnuptial agreements and counsels clients through complex divorce proceedings.
Alyssa represents individuals outside of New York in conjunction with local counsel and consults on foreign and out-of-state prenuptial agreements in New York. She is a thought leader in the field and regularly speaks on family law topics and she regularly writes for The New York Law Journal.
She prides herself on reaching creative out-of-court settlements for her clients whenever possible. If it is necessary to take a case to court, however, Alyssa is a skilled and experienced litigator, whom one client described as a “powerful and dangerous army sniper in the courtroom.” She has tried numerous financial non-custody cases in the Supreme and Family Courts of Manhattan and Brooklyn and has successfully argued in the Appellate Division First Department.
Inside and out of her professional activities, Alyssa is committed to service and equity in New York City. She is a board member of the Legal Aid Society, which advocates for equal justice and provides critical legal representation for all New Yorkers, regardless of identity or income. Additionally, she is a mentor for the TEAK Fellowship, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping talented New York City students from low-income families gain admission to top high schools and colleges.
Prior to founding Rower LLC in 2017, Alyssa trained in matrimonial law at Aronson Mayefsky & Sloan, LLP. She began her career in private practice as a commercial litigator with Milbank, LLP, where she gained invaluable trial and arbitration experience and developed her commitment to family law through her pro bono representations.
Alyssa lives in Brooklyn with her husband and their two children. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, exploring the city, playing pickleball, and doing crossword puzzles.
“Tenacity, brilliance and a heart of gold…Alyssa is my secret weapon who was relentless in trying to make a deal with my husband.”
“Alyssa’s organization and conceptualization of the case was superb. Her ability to handle herself during direct and cross was excellent. Her interpersonal skills — with me, the client, the judge, and witnesses — were also excellent.”
“Alyssa’s deep expertise and strategic thinking were clear from the beginning, but what really set her apart was her unwavering commitment to her clients. She went above and beyond to ensure that I felt heard, supported, and empowered at every step of the process.”
“She walked me through the divorce process and kept me updated at every step. While my divorce was amicable, the attorney on the other side was extremely different and Alyssa handled the entire situation with tact and grace and an amazing outcome.”
“Alyssa’s manner is distinctly different from many attorneys’ more distant style with clients. Instead, she interacts with high energy, infectious positivity and an open, ‘all hands welcome’ team approach, encouraging discussion and ideas and offering thoughtful, creative consensus solutions.”
